Becoming a gamer is easy, you just go and buy some of the latest gaming CDs. What’s more important is that experiencing each game even though you don’t really put any interest at first. There are thousands of games in the gaming market. Here I’m gonna to share a little bit of experience of mine. I am a beginner, trying to understand this gaming thing. Let me mention this in a clear way, I am not a gamer myself. Going through some research on Google about gaming I find it interesting to write about games more than playing. First I didn’t know what to play, second, have no idea what to write about and third I’m here with a list of 10 best video games to play. Clearly, this post is for gamers. This list contains most played and rated games of all the time. Gamers really put a lot of efforts, they spend their time on games even if they don’t like the game. In my previous post, I shared how gamers build their career by playing games. There are dozens of ways you could put together a list of the best video games ever made. Without further ado, let’s take a look on 10 best video games to play.
1- The Legend of Zelda (1986)
The Legend of Zelda is an action-adventure video game series. It was created by a Japanese game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. It was originally developed and published by Nintendo. The Legend of Zelda combines elements of action, adventure, and puzzle-solving games. It also takes place in the fictional Kingdom of Hyrule lead by the titular Princess Zelda. The Legend of Zelda is not just a game, it’s a complete series.
The first game was released in Japan in 1986. At that time, the changes include the ability to use dozens of different items, a large world full of secrets to explore, and the cartridge’s ability to save progress via battery-backed memory. The game also features a “Second Quest”, available upon completing the game. Keep in mind, the second quest is full of dangers, where dungeons and the placement of items are different and enemies stronger. The gameplay is to find items and using them to solve puzzles, battling monsters in real-time, and exploring a large environment. The game was wildly popular in Japan and North America.

2- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater (1999)
Tony Hawk’s is a skateboarding video-game series. It was advertised by Activision and endorsed by professional skateboarder Tony Hawk. The series was originally developed for home consoles by Neversoft. The aim of the game is to successfully perform and combine aerials, flips, and grinds, with successful executions adding to the player’s score. You have to keep in mind that point value of the trick is based on time maintained, degrees rotated, the number of tricks performed in sequence, and the amount of times the tricks have been used. Don’t forget the more often a trick is used, the less it’s worth. As you can see, the game is kinda being about ‘trickster’. Successful tricks also add to the player’s special meter, once full, allows for the execution of signature moves also known as special tricks which are worth a great deal more than normal tricks. Be very careful, falling off the skateboard causes bad landing, no points to be awarded for the tried trick and reset the special bar in order to empty. The game was specially designed for platforms – PlayStation, Nintendo 64, GBC, Dreamcast, N-Gage.

3- Grand Theft Auto (1997)
Grand Theft Auto mostly known as GTA is an action-adventure video game series. It was created by David Jones and Mike Dailly. The game was originally developed and published by Rockstar North. The name of the series references the name used in the UD for the motor vehicle. Grand Theft Auto is also a crime-themed game. The game was released for MS-DOS and Windows-based PCs back in October 1997. The gameplay is a criminal, you have the full control of him who travels freely through the three main cities of the Grand Theft Auto series. These include Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. If you are willing to play this game, be ready to be the most wanted criminal, the missions of Grand Theft Auto are all crime-based missions. You will have to take part in criminal activities like bank robbery, assault, theft, and more. You will be learning about new missions by answering the public telephones where criminal bosses will tell you specific tasks that needed to be done.
4- Half-Life (1998)
Half-Life is a sci-fi first-person shooter video game. It was developed by Valve and published by Sierra Studios for Microsoft Windows in 1998. The main character of the game is Dr. Gordon Freeman, who must fight his way out of the Black Mesa research facility after an experiment goes wrong, fight enemies and solve puzzles. Half-Life was made for the platforms – PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 2. The gameplay is pretty simple. As I told you earlier you will be playing as Dr. Gordon Freeman, a professor starting a new job at a black ops research facility. Here comes the challenge soon after you arrive things gone horribly wrong with some of the experiments. you have to get out alive.

5- Halo: Combat Evolved (2001)
Halo is a military sci-fi first-person shooter video game. It was created by Bungie, but now being managed and developed by 343 Industries, a subsidiary of Microsoft Studios. Basically, the series focuses on an interstellar war between humanity and an alliance by aliens known as the Covenant. The Covenant, motivated by their religious leaders called the Prophets. They worship an ancient civilization known as the Forerunners, died in a combat with the parasitic Flood. The basic focus of the franchise makes the experiences of Master Chief John-117. There are other characters such as Noble Six from Halo: Reach, one of a group of supersoldiers codenamed Spartans, and his Artificial Intelligence (AI) partner Cortana are also introduced in the series. The game was designed for platforms – Xbox, Microsoft Windows, OS X, Xbox 360, Windows Phone, iOS, Xbox One, Arcade.

6- LittleBigPlanet (2008)
LittleBigPlanet commonly known as LBP is a puzzle video game series. It was created by Media Molecule and published by Sony Computer Entertainment on multiple PlayStation platforms. The series is about the adventures of Sackboy, also has a large emphasis on gameplay rather than being story-driven. The gameplay is simple, has a tagline ‘Play, Create, Share’. As you can see, the tagline describes three main elements of the series, Play alone or with others online, create new content using the in-game creation tools, and lastly, share your creations and discoveries with other online players. The game can be played on platforms – PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4.

7- Mass Effect (2007)
Mass Effect is a sci-fi action role-playing third-person shooter video game series. It was developed by the Canadian company BioWare and released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, and Wii U. The game is already set in the year 2183 CE by default. It’s 35 years after humans have discovered the ruins of an ancient spacefaring race called the Protheans on Mars. Humanity was unaware of mass effect physics and element zero. With the help of technology from these ruins unlock faster than light travel. There is a mass relay network that humans have discovered, threaded the galaxy, permitting instantaneous passage across thousands of light-years. Humans began their journey through the stars, fighting various alien races and establishing itself on the galactic stage. I didn’t play Mass Effect, but it sounds like one of those must play. I personally enjoyed writing about this game and willing to play soon.

8- Metal Gear (1987)
Metal Gear is a series of action-adventure stealth video game. It was created in 1987 by Hideo Kojima and developed by Konami. The gameplay focuses on a player who often takes control of a special forces operative that either Solid Snake or Big Boss, is assigned to find a titular superweapon “Metal Gear”. Metal Gear is a bipedal walking tank with the ability to launch nuclear weapons. Remember, several sequels have been released for multiple consoles, expanded the original game’s plot adding characters opposing and supporting Snake. There have been a few prequels exploring the origins of the Metal Gear and recurring characters.

9- Resident Evil (1996)
Resident Evil (1996) is a survival horror video game. It was originally developed for the PlayStation by Capcom. It is Capcom’s best selling debut game. The game focuses an elite task force known as S.T.A.R.S along with the members Chris Redfield and Jil Valentine. They are on a mission to investigate the outskirts of Raccoon City following the disappearance of their team members. Here come the challenges, as they are trapped in a mansion filled with zombies and other monsters. If you’re playing as Chris or Jil at the start of the game, you must explore the mansion to uncover its secrets. I myself, played this game and its absolute horror, with all those zombies around you, it’s really scary. The upgraded version of this game is super horror with advanced graphical changes. Resident Evil can be played on these platforms – PlayStation, Microsoft Windows, Sega Saturn, Nintendo DS.

10- Call of Duty (2003)
Call of Duty is a first-person shooter video game series. It is based on the Quake III Arena engine. Call of Duty was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. The game resembles the army and combined arms warfare of World War II. Another extended pack, Call of Duty: United Offensive follows American and British soldiers and the Red Army. Imagine yourself in a war, fear of dying within a second, terrific sound of bombs whether they are near or distinct, protect your partners, manage food supplements, uncomfortable sleep, etc. War is about fighting for your beloved country. Although, the war in real life isn’t a good thing. The game also similar in theme and gameplay to Medal of Honor. It is made out of single-player battles and missions. Still, in Medal of Honor, the war is seen not just from the perspective of an American soldier but also from the perspective of Britsh and Soviet soldiers, is not as reliant on stealth as Medal of Honor. Call of Duty also introduced more computer-controlled allies who change in quantity. It also provides support to the player throughout the games offering a more realistic WWII experience. When there is an explosion near the player, he instantly feels simulated tinnitus, appropriate sound ‘muffling’ effects, blurred vision, and the action moves slows down.
