Hello there! welcome back to my site. I’ve been busy that’s why I couldn’t write. In my previous post, I assured you I will write about Hitman video game series, well its here. In this article, you will find out about Hitman Video game main series and let me know below in the comments which series you enjoyed playing the most. Right now, let’s start.
Hitman was an experiment performed by the International Contract Agency ICA or simply ‘The Agency’. They are very good at creating genetically engineered and highly effective assassins. They aim to create powerful assassins to eliminate bad guys, so far Hitman was their best-created Agent and they named him ‘Agent 47’. Agent 47 is a bald contract killer, the series revolves around the life and the experiences of the Hitman.
Hitman is a stealth video game series created by the Danish company IO Interactive, published by Eidos Interactive and Square Enix. The series is available on multiple platforms such as Microsoft Windows, GameCube, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 4 as well as several video game consoles. As of May 2017, IO Interactive has split off from Square Enix and is now self-publishing. Without further ado, let’s begin with Hitman video game main series.
Hitman: Codename 47 (2000)
Hitman: Codename 47 was released on 19 November 2000 in North America and 1 December 2000 in Europe. The first installment in the Hitman video game series, the story revolves around the test subject known as 47 escaping the asylum where he had experimented. If you were Hitman wouldn’t you be escaping after you’re experimented by a group of surgeons that they made you something beyond your expectations? yeah, you would. Hitman: Codename 47 trying to escape but later employed by the Agency. 47 meets his handler, Diana Burnwood, she assigns him to kill four criminal masterminds including a doctor. 47 understands his destiny and learns that he is a clone who has been trained since birth to become an assassin.
Beware in this cruel world where devil wears an angelic mask. Professor Wolfgang Ort-Meyer is the one behind the entire cloning process. He planned the deaths of the four criminal masterminds that were killed by 47 were part of the cloning process. He is one of those cruel people he purposely planned 47’s escape so that 47 kill the other four associates and he could use 47 for his own good. Smith, an agent of CIA helped 47 returns to the asylum and plans to kill Professor. Ort-Meyer knew 47 would return he was fully prepared for 47’s arrival, sending his group of clones to kill 47. The clones of Ort-Meyer failed their duties and 47 confronts professor, shoots him then snaps his neck. This is how 47 killed his own creator making him a great assassin.
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (2002)
Here the second installment of the Hitman video game series is Hitman 2: Silent Assassin or better ‘Silent Assassin’. It was released on 1st October 2002 in the US available for platforms PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Microsoft Windows. The story is further continued sequel to the Hitman: Codename 47, explaining life experiences of Hitman after killing his creator.
After murdering Ort-Meyer, 47 shuts down himself faking his death and unofficially resigned from the CIA. He tries to live a normal life. Leaving behind his life as an assassin, in search of peace he retreated to a church in Sicily. In church, Father Vittorio became his best friend and a mentor, 47 works for him as a gardener. No matter how hard Hitman tries to hide his emotions deep down Father Vittorio knew he has a soft heart. Hitman attends a confession to admit his sins.
Hitman is surrounded by enemies, they hated to see him in such ease. One day, he was working in the garden. Father Vittorio is kidnapped and a note is left for 47. Everything goes back as he decides to track down Father Vittorio as an assassin, he contacts his agency, they were shocked hearing from 47 as they thought he was dead. He made a deal with Diana Burnwood, stating that he would return to his post as a CIA assassin if they help him find Father Vittorio. They accepted.
Hitman: Contracts (2004)
Hitman: Contracts starts with a cutscene showing a wounded Agent 47. On the way through a dark hotel corridor entering his room, he falls and flashbacks of past begin to appear before his fainted eyes. Flashbacks of previous assassinations he committed starting to being with the aftermath of killing Dr. Ort-Meyer. Hitman: Contracts featuring replays of his previous missions. This installment is pretty much advanced as compared to its sequels. The graphics, maps and artificial intelligence have been more customized and improved. Hitman visits various locations including Romania, the UK, Rotterdam, Budapest, Hong Kong and finally Paris.
Hitman: Blood Money (2006)
Hitman: Blood Money is the fourth main installment in the Hitman video game series. It was officially released on May 30, 2006, in the US. The game is compatible with platforms Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and Xbox.
As Hitman is returned to his life as an assassin, there are missions that he must accomplish. In this game, Agent 47 will be given different missions framed around the killing of one or more individuals. Nothing can stop Agent 47, there is no going back in Hitman’s dictionary, he would risk his life serving as an assassin to the ICA. Nothing can stand in between his success, not even armed guards, security checkpoints, possible witnesses and other obstacles.
Be patient, do not make too much noise or being too violent whether you’re moving forward to your targets, bystanders, or both, my advice to you just be calm. Hitman: Blood Money is the only game in the series that includes features that directly penalize the player for being violent.
Hitman: Absolution (2012)
The fifth installment in the Hitman video game main series is Hitman: Absolution. It was released on 20 November 2012. The game is compatible with PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. The game is describing the mysterious life of Agent 47.
The life of 47 does not end yet, Hitman: Absolution begins with Agent 47 explains his relationship with his handler Diana Burnwood. Agent 47 trusted no one but Diana until she left without explanation leaving behind ICA by destroying their funding and database and secrets. Eventually, ICA is reformed, Benjamin Travis the new handler of Hitman at the ICA, tasked him to kill Diana for her betrayal and retrieve an important Agency asset. Aha, there’s a lot of new improvements in Absolution. I personally enjoyed playing Hitman: Absolution.
Agent 47 shoots Diana, he did not go away with it but comforts his dying friend. 47 ask her why she betrayed ICA. Poor Dying Diana explained she had discovered Victoria was being genetically-engineered to be an assassin for the ICA, she did not want to see Victoria suffer as the same as 47 this was the reason Diana betrayed the ICA and escaped with Victoria. Before dying, Diana requests 47 to protect Victoria and Travis labeled 47 a traitor.
The 6th installment to the Hitman Video game main series is HITMAN™. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One as dramatic series in March 2016. As I mentioned earlier, IO Interactive has split off from Square Enix and is now self-publishing, there was Feral Interactive which developed and published a port for Linux and released in February 2017. Feral Interactive also contributed further by developing and publishing a version for macOS and was released in June 2017. The main theme of the game takes place six years after the events of Hitman: Absolution.
Hitman 2 (2018)
Hitman 2 was officially announced in June 2018. It is the 7th and latest installment of the Hitman Video game series. The game compatible with Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. There is a good news, Hitman 2 will not be episodic like its ancestor HITMAN™. The game was announced by IO Interactive and Warner Bros Entertainment.
